Dame Kristin Scott Thomas stars in John Lewis’ 20th Christmas advert, which features Sam Fender covering The Rolling Stones.
The BAFTA-winning actress plays Gloria, a loving grandmother who is struggling to connect with her grandchildren. After first tucking some money in a card for them, rolling dog toy Pickles comes to life - voiced by Paul Whitehouse - to guide her into instead creating a fun cave for them all to spend some time together on Christmas.
After a few Christmas adverts without a traditional cover, John Lewis this year recruited Fender to cover You Can’t Always Get What You Want to accompany the new story.

Finally, we reach 2026’s John Lewis Christmas advert which has Sam Fender covering The Rolling Stones’ classic You Can’t Always Get What You Want, with help from the John Spence High School Choir and Easington Colliery Band. We shall have to wait and see how this version of the song does in the charts, though Sam Fender and record label Polydor Records have pledged that 100% of the net profits from sales of the single will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust. | John Lewis/PA
