After an 18-month hiatus, Insider Trading are back again with new EP And Back Again, write Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon

Hailing from as far afield as Bournemouth, Macclesfield and Largs, Insider Trading met at university in Edinburgh, coalescing around Glaswegian historian Cameron Bilsland, who is also the band’s main lyricist. Inspired by a mutual love of Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Slint, the band’s first single Spice Girl also gave a nod to Arab Strap with its spoken verses. Released at the end of 2023, it was followed by radio airplay as far away as Australia and the US, and featured on multiple streaming playlists closer to home.

After an 18-month break, the band resumed duties at the start of this year and have hit the ground running, selling out famed London venue The Old Blue Last and embarking on a tour of Northern England.

Insider Trading release their next EP on 22 October, appropriately titled And Back Again, which coincides with a return to the road. The tour also marks their Continental debut, with shows in Paris and at the Left Of The Dial Festival in the Netherlands, not to mention dates across the UK, including a gig at Hug And Pint in Glasgow on 20 November, see www.linktr.ee/insidertradingband
