When does Spotify Wrapped come out? Your guide to accessing Wrapped 2025 as Spotify tease release date

Here’s when Spotify Wrapped is expected to arrive for 2025, including how to find it and more.

It’s an exciting time of year for many music fans, with the release of Spotify Wrapped just around the corner.

A personalised account of what each user has been listening to across the last twelve months, the annual round up covers everything from the exact number of minutes spent listening, to top songs, artists, podcasts and more.

While it may have started as a viral marketing campaign, around a decade later and Spotify Wrapped has evolved into a staple of the brand’s offering, with many streaming platforms introducing their own unique take on the feature.

So if you are one of Spotify’s more than 713 million total monthly active users, here’s everything you need to know about when Wrapped will come out in 2025 - as well as when tracking begins and ends and more.

When does Spotify Wrapped come out?

With Spotify sharing on social media that Wrapped is “coming soon”, the most likely release date will be Wednesday, December 3 2025.

Why? Well, a few reasons.

For the last few years, Spotify Wrapped has been released on a Wednesday either at the end of November or the start of December.

When did Spotify Wrapped come out last year?

In 2024, Spotify Wrapped was released on Wednesday, December 4, while the year before it was released on Wednesday, November 29.

While the exact dates have varied, since 2021 Wrapped has been released on a Wednesday.

How to find your Spotify Wrapped

To find and access your Spotify Wrapped, the best thing to do is visit the Spotify app on your mobile device.

What typically happens is that Spotify will send a push notification to your device first, which will be the best way to know if it has been released provided you haven’t already heard about it dropping on social media.

You will also be able to locate some of the 2025 Wrapped features by heading to spotify.com/wrapped, but elements such as the Wrapped story - with your own personal listening data - is likely to only appear on the app.

If it’s your previous Wrapped data you’d like to revisit, then check your library for playlists titled “Your Top Songs” followed by the year. For example, “Your Top Songs 2024” and so on.

Unfortunately your data story is only available for a limited amount of time and, as such, you will be unable to view any from previous years.

In addition, Spotify Wrapped is available to all Spotify app users - even if you only have the free version.

When does Spotify begin and end tracking?

There has never been any official confirmation from Spotify regarding the exact dates when they begin tracking listening data, however we do know that it commences around the start of January and ends in November.

Previously it was thought that tracking ended on October 31, however the streaming platform have confirmed this isn’t the case. During a press presentation in December 2024, the senior director of product for personalization at Spotify Molly Holder shared that tracking starts in January and ends a few weeks before Wrapped launches.

She said: “We start at the beginning of January with all of your listening that begins right then at the beginning of the year, and it goes all the way through collecting data up until a few weeks before we launch the Wrapped product.”

In part, this helps reduce Christmas music influencing your listening data too heavily.

Holder added: “We aim to get as much of your year in listening covered as possible. This is how we can capture as much of your data to make the best personalized recommendations for you.”

You can exclude music from your listening history

In case you aren’t already aware, or perhaps the launch of Spotify Wrapped 2025 has revealed some embarrassing truths, you can actually exclude music from your “Taste Profile”.

While it is likely too late for this year’s Wrapped, all you need to do in the future is tap the three dots near the top of the playlist or track and then tap “Exclude from your taste profile” or “Exclude track from your taste profile”.

What this means is that if you have a playlist of guilty pleasures and you don’t want this influencing your personalised playlists, Discover Weekly or Spotify Wrapped, you can choose to exclude this playlist from your Taste Profile.

That means that while the total listening minutes will still include this playlist, you don’t have to worry about specific tracks or playlists influencing what your top artists or songs of the year are.

However, if you listen to songs outside of an excluded playlist, unless you individually exclude those tracks they will still count towards your Taste Profile - so, tread carefully. You cannot do this for specific artists, however you can instead choose “Don’t play this artist”.
