Growth push for Scottish mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy Xburo
“This investment represents the next phase of our development and a clear statement of intent about where we are taking this business” – Thomas Brady, co-founder
A Scottish mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy has embarked on a recruitment drive after securing “significant” growth investment.
Xburo UK, which has operations in Edinburgh and Glasgow, said it was looking to accelerate its foothold in the built environment market after partnering with private investment firm Chiltern Capital to fund its expansion plans.
The deal is said to mark a major milestone for the firm, which has set its sights on becoming a leading national specialist in mechanical and electrical asset engineering, design and technical advisory services.

The investment will support Xburo’s geographic expansion, as well as enabling the firm to expand its service offering to clients across its core sectors of public healthcare, defence, education and commercial.
Xburo was founded in 2018 by Thomas Brady and Michael Gribben. The business currently has some 20 employees and supports more than 60 clients across the built environment.
Gribben said: “Our vision is to build Xburo into a leading UK national specialist in asset engineering, design and technical advisory for the built environment, and this investment is a major vote of confidence in our ability to do exactly that.
“Chiltern Capital’s backing will strengthen our capabilities and extend our reach across Scotland, London, and other regions that align with our sector focus. Through boosted recruitment and a widening of our sector expertise, we will continue to deliver the quality of service and expertise that is synonymous with the Xburo name.”
Brady added: “This investment represents the next phase of our development and a clear statement of intent about where we are taking this business.”
Andrew Reid, investment director at Chiltern Capital, said: “We are committed to the long-term success of Xburo and its ambitious plans to scale the business. We look forward to supporting the management team with the capital needed to fund its expansion and drive its market positioning for the benefit of its engineers, staff and clients.”
In this transaction, Xburo was advised by accountancy firm Azets, with legal representation from Gillespie Macandrew.
