Plans have been submitted for a new housing development in Ballyclare, Co Antrim.

It would stand on the south-eastern edge of the town.

It is part of a much wider effort to expand that edge of the town.

Material submitted alongside the new application says: "The proposed development seeks to develop residential units on lands to the west of Huntingdale Green.

“The pre-application consultation indicated that the development would include about 60 houses, with a variety of house types.”

Later documentation says the exact number will be 56.

The News Letter has included a number of the house types here.

A report accompanying the application says neighbours in the area have been consulted and that “it was generally accepted that the site would be developed, with most interest relating to the detail of houses and boundaries in proximity to existing properties; the need for pedestrian and cycle connectivity was also a recurring theme”.

The site is next to an existing neighbouring strip of land earmarked for development, which is described as “a major urban extension to include residential neighbourhood, southern section of Ballyclare Relief Road, local centre, riverside park and other open spaces, children's play areas and associated works”.
