Point A to open new Edinburgh city centre hotel in St Andrew Square this summer
A brand new hotel is set to open in Edinburgh this summer in a historic city centre building.
Point A Hotels has announced that its brand new St Andrew Square location is scheduled to open from July, with bookings for the new accommodation now open on the Point A website.
Featuring 206 rooms, including 148 double rooms and 58 twin rooms, the new hotel will be located on 9-10 St Andrew Square at the end of Rose Street and overlooking the square.

The category A-listed building was most recently used as an office block before as well as housing a Sainsbury’s Local store on the ground floor, which closed in October 2024.
The historic building was built by Sir Basil Spence in 1962.
Point A has also boasted of the new hotel’s proximity to Edinburgh Waverley station, as well as shopping spots on Princes Street, George Street and St James Quarter.

The new hotel will feature interior design by Leisure Concepts with the design following Point A’s Gen 5 design concept with a focus on the Danish concept of ‘Hygge’, which puts focus on comfort and cosiness.
There is a focus on sustainability with high-efficiency air source heat pumps providing heating, cooling and hot water throughout the building.

The new hotel is the second Point A location in the city. Point A already operates a hotel on Morrison Street near Haymarket, which opened in 2019.
Nic Wenn, managing director at Point A Hotels, said: “Edinburgh remains one of the UK’s most dynamic hotel markets and St Andrew Square is one of the city’s most sought-after locations.
“We have been presented in Edinburgh since 2019 and we are delighted to be launching our second hotel in such a great location in the city.”
