Wood Group lands $120m services contract with Babcock

Oil and gas services giant Wood Group has won a five-year deal, worth $120 million (£86m), with Babcock International.

The contract will see the Aberdeen-based firm’s industrial services arm work on a number of Babcock’s sites across the UK, supporting more than 400 jobs.

The framework agreement includes surface preparation, protective coatings, scaffolding, insulation, rope access, cleaning and fire sentry services for Babcock, owner of the Rosyth dockyard in Fife.

Today’s deal – which has the option for a five-year extension – comes just weeks after Wood Group Industrial Services (WGIS) announced its first contract in the UK petrochemicals sector with a five-year agreement to provide services to Valero Energy’s Pembroke refinery in south-west Wales.
