Opened in 1971 in a “glorified electricians yard” in Glasgow’s west end, the Ubiquitous Chip (or the Chip as it’s known) was so popular it had to move premises to its home on Ashton Lane five years later.
Sold in 2022 to the Metropolitan Pub Group after 50 years of family ownership, it’s now got a new roof, extended kitchens and a wee snug off the whisky bar, thanks to a multimillion pound renovation.
With this in mind, here are 24 pictures showing life in The Chip through the years.
