Dog named Trigger accidentally shoots owner

AN Indiana woman is recovering after accidentally being shot by her dog - named Trigger.
Allie Carter, 25, was taking part in a waterfowl hunt at the Tri-County Fish and Wildlife Area, around 140 miles north of state capital Indianapolis, when she laid her 12-gauge shotgun on the ground without applying the safety mechanism.
And the 11-year-old chocolate Labrador Trigger stepped on the shotgun, causing it to fire and shoot Ms Carter in the foot at point-blank range.
Ms Carter suffered injuries to one foot caused by bird shot pellets, and was treated at two hospitals before being discharged.
The Avilla resident had not complete a hunter education course but did carry an apprentice hunting licence.
Indiana state law dictates that anyone born after 31 December 1986 must take a certified hunter education course prior to purchasing a hunting licence.
State Conservation Officer Jonathon Boyd said: “We encourage everyone to take a hunter education course before they venture out in the field.”
Chocolate Labradors regularly top lists of the clumsiest dog breeds.
