A74 crash: Driver, 23, airlifted to hospital after horror motorway crash in Dumfries and Galloway
Both drivers were taken to hospital
A 23-year-old was airlifted to hospital after a major two-vehicle crash on the A74(M).
Police said the collision happened on the southbound carriageway near the Annan Bank Overbridge, near the village of Johnstonebridge, around 1pm on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old male driver of a black Seat Leon was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. The 48-year-old male driver of the white Tesla was separately taken by road to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out and reopened around 9pm.
Sergeant Colin Ramage said: “I’m appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or saw either vehicle before the collision, to come forward.
“I’d also ask drivers with dashcams to review any footage of the area around the time to see if you have captured something which may assist our investigation.
“Members of the public are thanked for their patience yesterday. We appreciate this caused delays on the road network. However, it was essential to ensure the safety of officers and other road users while enquiries were carried out.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 1412 of November 11.
