Hollywood superstar George Clooney pays visit to Edinburgh charity
Edinburgh is preparing to welcome Hollywood royalty tonight, as George Clooney gets ready to attend the British Business Awards in the city.
The event is aiming to raise £1 million for Edinburgh charity Social Bite, of which Mr Clooney is a longtime supporter. The charity, founded by Josh Littlejohn MBE, aims to end homelessness through practical support and systemic change.
Mr Clooney was shown prototypes of homes from the new Social Bite Village alongside charity founder Josh Littlejohn and Sir Bob Geldof before his address at the 4th annual Gleneagles Gala Dinner for Social Bite on April 29.
The visit comes ahead of his special guest appearance at the annual British Business Awards, which will take place at the EICC in Edinburgh tonight.

Josh Littlejohn MBE, who is also event director of the British Business Awards, said: “George made such an incredible impact to Social Bite when he visited our café 10 years ago and we’re honoured to have him join us again at these events which help us raise much-needed funds to help end homelessness in the UK.
“Last year’s British Business Awards were a triumph. Not only did we recognise and celebrate some of Britain’s biggest success stories, we also smashed our target and helped to raise over £1.3m for Social Bite, alongside a special fundraiser at Gleneagles Hotel. This year’s awards are set to be even more exciting, and we couldn’t be more delighted to welcome back George Clooney to Scotland.”

Later, one lucky winner of a competition run by Social Bite will join Clooney as part of a small private group being organised by Social Bite at Gleneagles Hotel.
Earlier this week, Claire Phale, a 35‑year‑old events manager and mum‑of‑one, was announced as the itison winnerof the once‑in‑a‑lifetime lunch with the Hollywood legend.
