Pilot given 26 years for killing wife
A BRITISH Airways pilot from Edinburgh has been jailed for 26 years for killing his millionairess wife then obstructing a coroner from holding an inquest.
Robert Brown bludgeoned Joanna to death with a hammer at their 3 million home as their two children cowered in their play room, before burying her body in a country park.
The trial at Reading Crown Court heard the 47-year-old, who moved to Ascot from the Capital in 1999 after meeting his wife, had become consumed by anger and resentment.
Brown believed he was "stitched up" by a prenuptial agreement, which led to him being offered less than half of the assets to which he believed he was entitled in a divorce.
He was cleared of murder, but convicted of preventing a coroner from holding an inquest by disposing of a body.
Brown previously admitted manslaughter by means of diminished responsibility.
