Peter Murrell's potential assets revealed in court papers after £400,000 SNP embezzlement
The restraint order has set out Murrell’s assets that could be used to repay the money he embezzled from the SNP.

Peter Murrell’s assets have been revealed in court documents amid speculation the disgraced former SNP CEO could have to repay the funds he embezzled from the party.
Murrell, who pleaded guilty to embezzling more than £400,000 from party funds, has been made subject to a restraint order, under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2022.

The restraint order, seen by The Scotsman, has been lodged with the Register of Scotland and prevents the deeds of Murrell’s Uddingston home, which he co-owns with his estranged wife, Nicola Sturgeon. Being transferred.
The document confirmed Murrell’s pension, the now infamous motorhome and his house as assets under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
The restraint order states it is “interdicting him from dealing with” the assets.
The Niesmann Bischoff motor home, seized by authorities from Murrell’s mothers home in Dunfermline is the first listed asset.

The second asset is “the sum of £613,496.04 being the gross funds” within two Legal and General pension accounts.
Thirdly, the restraint order includes Murrell’s "interest in the heritable property” and Ms Sturgeon’s home in Uddingston. The document states that the property is regarded as “up to the value of £88,632 held in the name of Peter Murrell and Nicola Sturgeon”.
Speaking at Murrell’s appearance at Edinburgh High Court on Tuesday, his legal representative, John Scullion KC, said that “a restraint order was handed in terms of section 120, subsection 1 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 in relation to the accused”.

He added: “The value of the property in terms of restrained petition suggests that there will be repayment of embezzlement in this case.”
Ms Sturgeon, who denied any prior knowledge of her estranged husband’s wrongdoing, was asked by the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg if she would “contribute in some way” to SNP members and donors to get their money reimbursed, including from her shared property with Murrell.

Ms Sturgeon said: “There will now be, I would imagine, a legal process to recover the money from Peter that he embezzled form the SNP. That will be a legal process.
“I am not guilty of that embezzlement so nothing that belongs to me should be part of that, rightly. But will that process impact on me? Of course it will.”
