Where and when three military aircraft are scheduled to perform Edinburgh flypast this weekend
Three military aircraft are expected to perform a flypast over Edinburgh this weekend - replacing the Red Arrows.
A C-17 Globemaster and two Typhoon jets are scheduled to perform a flypast over the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo this weekend.
The Globemaster and Typhoon jets are replacing the Red Arrows who were forced to pull out of their Tattoo flypast, as well as Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week and Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow, due to their return from the United States being delayed by poor weather.
Wing Commander Sasha Nash, Officer Commanding RAF Aerobatic Team, said: “We are very sorry the Red Arrows cannot participate at these events and we are grateful to organisers and communities for their understanding.
“Every effort is being made to ensure the Red Arrows can recommence the busy display season as soon as possible. However, safety is the only factor that will determine the timing of the team’s return from Canada.”

Five flypasts are scheduled to take place during the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle, which is running until Saturday 29 August.
Acts for the 2026 show - A Call to Gather - include The German Army Band Koblenz, New Zealand Army Band, the Qatar Police Academy Band and Drill Team, and the United States Army Field Band.
They are joined by military bands, with Royal Air Force Musicians taking centre stage as part of this year’s Lead Service, alongside fan favourites such as the Massed Pipes and Drums, Lone Piper and the Tattoo Performers showcasing the best of Scottish Traditional Arts.
