Traitors UK: Traitor Stephen returns home to Stornoway ahead of BBC game show finale
“The local support is off the scale and I’m so grateful”
Traitors star Stephen Libby has returned to his home in Stornoway ahead of the TV game show’s finale on Friday night.
Stephen, 32, who works in cyber security and now lives in London, is one of two traitors and one of six contestants left in the entire game.
Stephen reflects on growing up in Stornoway
In the episode shown last Friday, when the players were sharing personal stories over dinner, he said: “I’m from a very rural community and for the longest time I kind of hated myself actually.
"I lost my teenage years going to church, trying to pray myself normal.”
He said that “for the longest time”, he did not like who he was.
But he was full of praise for his parents, saying they had given “absolutely everything they had” to make sure that he and his brother had “the most incredible childhood”.
And he added: “I just hope that I’ve done the people that know me outside of here proud and I’d be really chuffed to be able to give them back or repay the favour.”
While the pre-recorded show was airing, Stephen was on his way home to Lewis for the weekend and shared footage of his break on Instagram.

One reel had Calum Kennedy’s Lovely Stornoway playing in the background, as Stephen posted: “A flying visit back to MY lovely Stornoway is exactly what was needed.
"Thanks to everyone who stopped me to wish me luck. The local support is off the scale and I’m so grateful.”
In another post he said: “Although I’ve spoken about my difficulties growing up here it has since become a real safe haven for me and I feel truly at peace every time I come back.”
The Traitors concluded its penultimate episode on Thursday with an almighty cliffhanger, which saw the banishment left to chance between treacherous Rachel and faithful James.
Before this, Rachel had tried to steer suspicion towards her fellow traitor Stephen, but he continued to vote for James as planned.
The Traitors finale will air at 8.30pm on BBC One.
