Is it going to snow in Scotland this weekend? Met Office Amber weather warning issued for snow and ice
The Met Office has issued multiple amber weather warnings for Scotland this weekend.
Multiple amber weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office this weekend for parts of Scotland expecting extreme snow and ice.
The warning covers the North and North West of Scotland which are to be hit by heavy snow through out the weekend.
A statement from the Met Office warns: “ Heavy snow showers will become more frequent and may merge to give longer spells of snow at times.
“The area and period covered by this warning are when the heaviest and most disruptive snow is thought most likely during the current cold spell.”

A yellow weather warning is also in place for the North of Scotland.
These warnings remain in place throughout Friday and Saturday, with the yellow alert remaining until midnight on Sunday.
For those planning on travelling over the next few days, the Met Office warn: “Snowy, wintry weather can cause delays and make driving conditions dangerous, so to keep yourself and others safe: plan your route, checking for delays and road closures, amending your travel plans if necessary; if driving, leave more time to prepare and check your car before setting off; make sure you have essentials packed in your car in the event of any delays.”
