Yes, it's early October, no we've not had Halloween yet, but that hasn't stopped the supermarkets rolling out the festive specials - and one of the first tastes of Christmas just has to be the mince pie.
All jokes apart, it is a bit early for Christmas fayre, which is probably why you can buy these ridiculously indulgent all butter mince pies for half price at the moment. They're from the Taste the Difference range, and they look absolutely gorgeous.

The premium-range pies combine buttery pastry with a filling of apples, dried fruit and candied citrus peel, infused with brandy and finished with a sweet dusting.

A spoonful of cream alongside would make an easy pudding, although there's plenty to be said for keeping things simple with a mug of tea.
