Scottish chippy to serve World Cup menu including McGinn stack and Kane getting battered
A Scottish fish and chip shop has introduced a World Cup themed menu.
Excitement is growing over this year’s World Cup, which is due to kick off on Thursday 11 June in Mexico. Scotland’s first game is Sunday 14 June at 2am and marks the men’s team return to the World Cup since 1998.
Those looking to mark the occasion of our national side taking part can do so with specially launched beers and whiskies but one Scottish chippy has introduced a new World Cup themed menu.

Hook and Catch x Tuck Shakk Bearsden have launched a World Cup Specials menu, which included dishes such as the McGinn Stack - a double smash cheese burger; Tierney tenders - five hot honey chicken tenders; the Shankland Schlong - a footlong battered sausage with loaded chips, melted cheese, curry sauce and crispy onions and McTominay mac balls - deep fried mac and cheese balls with a garlic dip.
As well as nods to the Scotland players there’s a hand of god pizza crunch; a tartan army 12 inch box and a sweet treat of Kane getting battered - a deep fried battered Lion bar.
Posting on their social media about the new menu, the team wrote: “🏆 WORLD CUP SPECIALS HAVE LANDED AT HOOK & CATCH 🏆Scotland are heading tae the World Cup… so naturally we’ve completely lost the plot 🏴😂”
The menu is a limited edition with more information on all the dishes and how to order on their website.
Styled as a ‘posh fish and chip shop’ Hook and Catch x Tuck Shakk Bearsden is known for its quirky menu of unusual deep fried items.
In 2025 launched a deep fried Sunday roast which included a giant Yorkshire pudding, sausage, chips, cheese, gravy - all deep fried.
In 2021 they deep fried a Colin the Caterpillar cake and more recently they’ve added a Mars bar deep fried in panko breadcrumbs to the menu and during Easter will deep fry a Creme egg.
