Tourist thanks 'legendary' people of Glasgow after almost missing flight

The tourist said they were crying as they worked to not miss their flight.

A tourist has thanked the people of Glasgow after a stressful trip to the airport where they almost missed their flight.

Taking to Reddit's 'Glasgow' forum, they explained that they were travelling with their mother when they were trying to get to the airport to return home from the city.

With the help of a friendly taxi driver alongside passengers and staff at the airport, they were able to make their flight.

The poster said they were just back from a trip to Glasgow with their mother where they were “very close” to missing their flight home.

After getting a taxi from the Maldron Hotel, the poster started crying in the middle of the ride as they realised they weren’t going to make their flight and still hadn’t checked in their suitcase.

The poster wrote: “The taxi driver asked and I told him we had missed our flight already.

“When we got to the airport he got down, left the taxi with the doors open and all, he carried some of our luggage and started running to our check-in zone.

“What a legend, if it hadn't been for him we would've most likely missed it.”

They then made it to the long security queue and the poster said they were still crying.

“I was so embarrassed and felt bad for the people but I asked a lady if we could please pass in front of her, obviously I said she didn't have to,” they added.

“She didn't hesitate at all and let us in front, the lady in front also let us pass.

“We were at the checking zone, I wasn't even sure they would let us check in that late.

“The man saw me crying, him and another woman reassured me we would be fine but we really needed to run, they were super quick and told me they'd let them know our suitcase had to arrive to the plane yet.”

“My mum and I still can't believe how nice everyone has been,” they added.

“These people have been our heroes today.

“People in general have been super friendly. My mum speaks zero English and they were super patience and helped her with everything.

“I know not every single person is good but we're really jealous of how welcoming you guys are.

“And to finish, we saw the fire from our hotel. It breaks our hearts, we hope everyone and Glasgow can have a comfortable recovery.

“Thank you for these amazing days.”

One Reddit user responded, saying: “Honestly people are really what can make the difference for your trip.

“Hope you had a good time and want to return!”
