Crowning glory: parkland, playgrounds, maze and more

Children can let their imagination run wild as they stand on Moot Hill – the very place where Scottish kings were once crowned – and capture a special holiday memory beside the replica Stone of Destiny. Inside the Palace, a fun treasure hunt brings the history to life and makes exploring the magnificent rooms an adventure for younger visitors too.

But a visit to Scone Palace is about far more than history. Beyond the Palace walls, 100 acres of spectacular gardens are waiting to be explored, offering families the chance to slow down, reconnect with nature and discover something new around every corner.

Take a stroll through peaceful woodland paths, challenge the family in the Murray Star Maze, spot wildlife hidden throughout the estate or enjoy watching the famous Palace peacocks proudly roaming the grounds. Visitors may also encounter Highland cows, squirrels, pheasants, hares, rabbits, butterflies and even the elusive pine marten.

For those who want to explore further, the wider 400 acres of parkland provide even more space for adventure, with beautiful walks and stunning views across the River Tay – the perfect setting for a family picnic.

Younger visitors can burn off some energy in the fantastic recently refurbished enclosed woodland playground, designed as the perfect place for climbing, exploring and outdoor fun.
