Bob MacIntyre's $1.25m Players' pay-day and big FedEx Cup jump as Masters looms
Scot close to becoming $20m man on PGA Tour after eye-catching effort at Sawgrass
Bob MacIntyre’s latest eye-catching effort on one of golf’s biggest stages has set him up nicely as the first major of the 2026 season looms on the horizon.
The Oban man finished fourth behind American Cameron Young in The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach in Florida on Sunday.

After posting rounds of 65 and 69 over the weekend to end up on ten-under-par, MacIntyre picked up a cheque for a whopping $1.25 million out of a prize pot of $25 million.
It took his earnings from six events on the US circuit this season to just over $2.16m while his career earnings on the PGA Tour are now around $18.5m.
That figure has been earned from 83 events, with the 29-year-old having made the cut in 66 of those appearances and racked up two twins, seven top fives and 18 top tens.
The one slight disappointment for MacIntyre about his latest big performance, which came on the back of him finishing second in last year’s US Open, is that it didn’t improve his position in the Official World Golf Ranking.
In fact, due to Young juimping 11 spots up to fourth on the back of the biggest win of his career, the Scot dropped one place to now sit ninth.
Scot set to play this week in Valspar Championship
MacIntyre, though, leapt 19 spots in the FedEx Cup points list to sit 20th and is already looking as though he can be involved in the season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta in August for the third year in a row.
The 29-year-old, who became a new dad earlier in the year, had entered this week’s Valspar Championship on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Florida but pulled out straight after finishing on Sunday.
It means that, as he’d originally planned, he will finalise his preparations for The Masters by teeing up in the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio in a fortnight’s time.
