A total of 296,728 rounds of golf were played across seven courses in 2025, representing a five per cent increase from 2024. According to the annual report, the increase was down to more rounds played by local golfers and others who hold an annual ticket to play the courses.

An irrigation project expected to cost around £10.5 million started in November 2025 while another “major strategic investment” was the completion of a lease on the rebranded Craigtoun Course, owned by the Kohler Group.

“The role of St Andrews Links Trust is to protect and maintain the Home of Golf, while looking for opportunities to enhance and develop for the future,” said chief executive Richard Holland.

“These results give us the confidence to continue to reinvest in accessibility, sustainability, innovation and people to meet our objectives and obligations.

“I look forward to building on the sustainable management of the Links by further enhancing the experience we offer and ensuring the reinvestment in our estate is planned to deliver maximum impact for our golfers and our community.”
