Celtic advance on £4m target, Rangers £7.5m bid rejected, Hearts close in on 28y/o- transfer news

Scottish transfer rumours and speculation

There are 17 days left in the transfer window and many more incomings and outgoings are expected across the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers and Celtic have already spent millions, and they are not finished yet, while Hearts are also looking to bolster their squad with further additions after coming so close to a historic title win last season.

Here are the latest transfer rumours from all three clubs this Monday evening...

Celtic advance on £4m target

Celtic are said to be in advanced talks to sign Hungarian goalkeeper Balázs Tóth.

The 28-year-old is set to leave Engish side Blackburn Rovers after rejecting a new contract offer.

Udinese and Hamburg have also been linked with the 6ft 2in shotstopper, but according to Hungarian outlet NemzetiSport, it is the Scottish champions who are closing in on a £4million transfer after making an approach last week.

Celtic head coach Martin O'Neill confirmed at the weekend the club are in the market for an experienced goalkeeper to provide competition for current number one Viljami Sinisalo. It is reported that a deal could be completed this week with Celtic set to head into a Champions League play-off against Austrian side LASK on Wednesday.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray is resigned to losing Tóth, who has seven caps for Hungary and made 35 appearances in the Championship last season. "If the goalkeeper wants to go somewhere else, wants to win cups and trophies and wants to play in the Champions League, who am I to tell him not to?" Mowbray said. "Good luck to him."

Rangers £7.5m bid rejected

Rangers have had an offer for Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry turned down by the Premier League club.

That is according to BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella who claims that the Ibrox club submitted a £7.5m bid for the 21-year-old England youth international, which was rejected.

Cozier-Duberry spent last season on loan at Bolton and helped them win the League One play-offs with eight goals and 12 assists in 34 appearances. He has been given opportunities to impress for Brighton in pre-season but was an unused substitute for the 1-0 win at home to Bologna on Saturday.

Rangers remain in the market for a winger after pulling the plug on a move for PSV's Couhaib Driouech at the 11th hour after the player's medical flagged an injury issue that would have rendered him unavailable for immediate selection.

Hearts close in on 28y/o

Hearts are closing in on the the signing of Rhode Island striker JJ Williams.

The giant American is out of contract in November and is likely to cost Hearts around £100,000.

Williams is 6ft 4ins tall and has recorded 11 goals and five assists from 23 appearances in America’s USL Championship, the division below Major League Soccer, so far this year.

The Edinburgh Evening News report that the 28-year-old was identified through Jamestown Analytics.
