A bumper crowd of around 15,000 fans was expected at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park – a record attendance for an Irish League fixture this century.
Cliftonville were hoping to lift the trophy for the first time since 1979, with Linfield aiming to extend a record-breaking tally in the tournament to 45 wins.
Fans turned up showing off plenty of colour in support of the players despite the wet weather in Belfast.
