Rangers announce departure of key recruitment figure after 15 months at Ibrox
Rangers confirm technical director to stand down
Dan Purdy is departing his position as Rangers technical director after 15 months in the role.
Everton's former head of recruitment, Purdy replaced Nils Koppen in the position following the takeover of the Ibrox club by American businessman Andrew Cavanegh in the summer of 2025.
His responsibilities included leading on recruitment and talent identification pathway, spanning the men’s, women’s, and academy programmes.

Purdy oversaw 30 new signings across three transfer windows and worked with three different managers during his short tenure, namely Russell Martin, Danny Rohl and Derek McInnes.
The most recent summer window saw Rangers spend a record £35million on 14 new arrivals with 19 players departing.
Rangers announced in a statement on Friday that the 32-year-old was standing down amid reports claiming the Ibrox board had tried to persuade him to stay on.
It read: “Rangers Football Club confirms that Dan Purdy will step down from his position as Technical Director.
“Dan will continue to work with the club’s ownership group, supporting the transition and other football projects.
“The Board would like to thank Dan for his commitment and contribution during his time at Rangers and wishes him every success for the future.”
