LIV Golf duo confirmed for Genesis Scottish Open after striking DP World Tour deals
Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton set to be part of Ryder Cup reunion in Rolex Series event at The Renaissance Club
LIV Golf stars Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton have both been confirmed for next month’s Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club.
Legion XIII team-mates Rahm and Hatton will be part of a strong European Ryder Cup contingent in the $9 million Rolex Series event in East Lothian.
Both players will be making their first appearances on the DP World Tour since striking a deal over outstanding fines for playing in LIV Golf events without an official release.
Hatton was among eight players who agreed to the terms in February, with Rahm then joining them at the beginning of last month. In doing so, the Spaniard paved the way for him to remain eligible for the Ryder Cup.
Rahm hinted to GOLF.com’s Sean Zak at the end of last month’s PGA Championship at Aronimink that he was planning to play in the Genesis Scottish Open, with that now being officially confirmed by the DP World Tour.
Both players are currently banned from playing on the PGA Tour, which makes this particular appearance a bit more significant than it might have been. The Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA Tour and counts towards the Race to Dubai and the FedEx Cup.
Two-time major winner Rahm will be making only his third Genesis Scottish Open appearance, having finished seventh in 2021 before ending up just outside the top 50 the following year.
Ryder Cup reunion in East Lothian
Three-time Dunhill Links winner Hatton, meanwhile, will be teeing up in the event for the ninth time, having finished second in 2016.
The duo will join a posse of European team-mates for a Ryder Cup reunion at The Renaissance Club, including 2023 and 2024 Genesis Scottish Open winners Rory McIlroy and Bob MacIntyre.
Rory Colville, Genesis Scottish Open championship director, said: “The Genesis Scottish Open continues to attract one of the strongest fields in world golf, and we are delighted to welcome so many of Europe’s leading Ryder Cup stars back to The Renaissance Club.”
Tickets for the event on 9-12 July are on sale now at etg.golf/GSO26Tickets.
