Ireland 43 Scotland 21 RECAP: Six Nations and Triple Crown heartbreak

How it happened as Scotland took on Ireland in Dublin finale

History beckons for Scotland on Super Saturday with the Triple Crown - and possibly the Six Nations Championship itself - on the line in Dublin.

The Scots will claim their first Triple Crown in 36 years if they defeat Ireland at the Aviva Stadium having already beaten England and Wales in this year’s competition.

Avoiding a 12th straight defeat by Ireland will also give Scotland a chance of winning the Six Nations title for the first time since 1999 - the last year of the Five Nations before Italy joined.

For that dream scenario to happen, Scotland will require a favourable result later in the France v England match, which kicks off at 8.10pm in Paris on Saturday evening.

Scotland and France are currently tied at the top of the Six Nations table with 16 points each, but France holds a significant +58 points difference advantage.

Ireland, who are third, are also still in contention to win the Triple Crown and the Six Nations. A huge match awaits...
