Triumphant Scottish side against England get back together 50 years on
All 12 players from Sunningdale success get back together in Glasgow to mark milestone
A group of Scottish golfers who pulled off a memorable win over England when they were the rising stars in the home of golf have been reunited 50 years on.
The triumphant team in the International Cup clash against the Auld Enemy at Sunningdale got back together again for a lunch in Glasgow to mark the occasion.
Scotland won the singles 4-1 and held on for an 8-7 victory despite losing the singles 6-4.

Colin Dalgleish, who went on to win the Scottish Amateur Championship before becoming a two-time GB&I Walker Cup captain, won both his matches, as did John Huggan.
“Happily, all 12 members of the squad, including the two reserves, were able to make it,” said Huggan of the reunion, where the trophy was also in attendance. “All 12 still alive and, even more remarkable, all 12 living in Scotland!”
Others in the team included Alastair Webster, who was an Edzell member at the time and went on to become the Angus club’s long-serving PGA professional.
Alastair McLean was the long-time professional at Duddingston while Stuart Taylor was the head greenkeeper at Killermont in Glasgow before retiring.

Laurence McLeod, one of the reserves, is the current captain at Royal Aberdeen and presented the trophy to the winner of this year’s Scottish Amateur Championship while Stewart Miller served as a member of the Royal Protection Squad during his time in the Police.
One of the players in the defeated English team was Andrew Oldcorn, who subsequently switched his allegiance to Scotland after moving to Edinburgh.
