As the Celebrity Traitors starts again on BBC 1 , we take a look at some fabulous Scottish castles that anyone would be happy to be banished to.

From a luxury retreat on the coast to a royal residence, you can visit and stay in all of these grand abodes. And if you’re a fan of the hit TV programme The Traitors, they’re sure to be right up your street.

Crossbasket Castle opened its doors in May 2016, having been restored from the brink of ruin into one of Scotland’s most luxurious, five-star hotel and events venues by owners Alison and Steve Timoney. This year a new 40-bedroom hotel that neighbours the existing castle opened with a 1920s style bar and restaurant, Trocadero's.
