Under the Radar: Lacuna

Lacuna PIC: Rosie Sco

Lacuna originated when Emily Beckwith and (vocals, guitar) and Jack McLellan (guitar) got together at high school to try their hand at songwriting, before going on to recruit four additional members from the Glasgow music scene.

Since their first gig in a café in 2021, the band have progressed to selling out King Tut’s, supporting Edwyn Collins, and this year showcasing at our Wide Days convention, as well as performing at TRNSMT and Kelburn Garden Party.

Lacuna take a varied approach to their songwriting, with some tracks beginning life in bedrooms, others in the practice room and one (Nest), simply built around a bassline before being completed in collaboration with chart-topping producer Dan Gautreau. In spite of these different origins, however, the results are always finely-crafted, atmospheric, alternative-pop masterpieces.

After their next live outing at the Belladrum Festival on 1 August, Lacuna will be working on new songs before embarking on a UK tour in October. This will be immediately followed by a trip across the North Sea, for their first international show at Dutch tastemaker festival, Left Of The Dial, which takes place in Rotterdam, see https://linktr.ee/Lacuna.music
