Glasgow indie folk-rock collective merrowfolk release their debut album understory on 15 October through Iffy Folk Records, followed by a launch show at The Rum Shack in Glasgow on 24 October.

Originally formed around Irish singer songwriter Mima Merrow’s solo output, the band comprises Clare McBrien, Freya Giles, Nicola Denman, Ali Hendry, Douglas Knight, Andrew Macdonell and Alexander Meyer. They were named Track of the Week on BBC Introducing on BBC Radio Scotland thanks to Phoebe Inglis-Holmes and Stephanie Cheape, have secured airplay on Amazing Radio, and count UTR favourites Jo D’Arc of The Twistettes and Girobabies as fans.

Debut single Beckoning Back was followed by Let Me Be Yours, which combines soaring female harmonies with brass, grungy guitars, keys and driving rhythms while exploring themes of identity and belonging. Already established on the live circuit across Scotland and Ireland, the group have performed at the Stendhal Festival as well as Knockengorroch and Back Doune the Rabbit Hole.
