The two tracks on Sin Clair’s upcoming single release will form part of an eagerly anticipated long-term project, write Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon

Sin Clair is the solo vehicle for Amelia Kidd, erstwhile bass player for The Ninth Wave and currently a touring member and co-writer with The Horrors. Her extensive touring experience has given her an impressive network of connections around the world, leading to numerous supports and being taken on by veteran manager Sandy Dworniak.

She has her first single out on 4 September via the artist-owned New York label, STTT Records. One of the most promising debuts of the year, it features Affirmations #2 which has hints of Swedish maestros The Knife, and blends the type of sounds and beats which might accompany a haunting art installation. It is complemented by Exhale, a moving piano and vocal track which reveals the other side of Kidd’s songwriting.

Both form part of an eagerly anticipated long-term project, which will soon see Sin Clair travel to LA to work with Rosalía arranger Jake Miller. Meanwhile, on the live front she will be playing La Cheeta in Glasgow on Thursday and London’s Third Man on 9 September, before embarking on a UK tour in the autumn, see www.sin-clair.com

Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon run music industry seminar and social night Born To Be Wide, see www.borntobewide.co.uk
