What is the Met Gala 2026 theme and dress code?
The theme for the 2026 Met Gala is “Costume Art”, while this year’s dress code is “Fashion is Art”.
It’s a unique twist given the setting of the annual event.
The theme is related to the spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, which is then refined into a dress code which celebrity stylists can interpret in a variety of ways.
Last year’s theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, with a dress code of “Tailored for You”.

There are no official prices listed for the 2026 Met Gala, as it is an invite-only event.
With that being said, individual tickets are said to cost anywhere from $75,000 (£55,000) to $100,000 (£73,900), with tables costing upwards of $350,000 (£258,875).
The guest list for the Met Gala is notoriously exclusive, with only around 450 people in total expected to be in attendance.
