It may only be October, but thoughts are already turning to next summer’s music festivals, with Barcelona’s Primavera Sound having recently announced their full lineup.
With Glastonbury already sold out, music fans who didn’t manage to bag a ticket will be looking at going to the other big British music festivals, with Download expected to make a first announcement by the end of the month.
Meanwhile in Scotland the organisers of TRNSMT haven’t even announced dates for the Glasgow festival - keeping fans waiting to see whether it will even take place.
One of the biggest events of 2027 in the UK will be The Reading and Leeds Festivals, which will take place from August 26-29.
Dating back to 1961, when it was known as the National Jazz Festival, the event was first only held in Reading but since 1999 encompasses twin festivals taking place over the same weekend with a near-identical lineup.
The Reading part is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, while the Leeds portion is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby.
Many of the biggest names in music have headlined over the years, including Nirvana, Oasis, Blur, Fall Out Boy, Metallica, The Cure, Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys and Pink Floyd.
Here are 13 acts who are rumoured to be entering the festival’s roll of honour next year.

5. Sam Fender
Sam Fender took a break from touring this year to focus on new music to follow up his hugely-successful album 'People Watching'. It seems a new album in early 2027 is a distinct possibility, with live dates following. It's likely that a return to Reading and Leeds, where he last headlined in 2023 would be close to the top of his tour wishlist. | Getty Images for Coachella

6. Billie Eilish
There's likely to be at least one pop headliner at this year's festival and Billie Eilish looks like a real possibility. She finished her last major tour at the end of 2025 so should be just about ready to release a new album with the inevitable global tour and summer festival gigs to follow. She's played Reading and Leeds twice before, including being the festival's youngest ever headliner in 2023. | Getty Images for iHeartMedia

7. Dua Lipa
Just a couple of days ago it was reported that Dua Lipa is planning a massive global tour for 2027. She's another pop act with huge crossover appeal that would be a big draw for Reading and Leeds. She's only played the festival once before, given a relatively lowly third billing on the main stage in 2018. | Getty Images

8. Olivia Dean
A name that is frequently popping up on Reading and Leeds fan forum is four-time Brit winner Olivia Dean. It's rumoured she could have new album out in 2027 and is well on course to becoming a huge global star, with a Grammy already under her belt and more expected to follow. She got her big break performing on the Reading and Leeds BBC Introducing stage and would doubtlessly love to make a triumphant return as a headliner in 2027 if the timing is right. | Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images
