Harry Potter: HBO Max to air behind-the-scenes look at new TV series this weekend

Fans are set to get an exclusive behind-the-scenes preview of HBO’s new Harry Potter television series this weekend.

Premiering on HBO Max this Sunday (April 5), Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic offers an in-depth look at how the season one, which follows the events of The Philosopher's Stone, is being brought to life.

The one-off special will debut on the streaming platform from 8pm in the UK, with audiences able to experience the new Harry Potter series through the lens of artists, technicians and more as they demonstrate the epic scale of the show and the care behind the craft.

It follows the release of the first film in the Potter franchise 25 years ago, with Hogwarts now being brought to life for a new generation.

Scottish actor Dominic McLaughlin takes on the role of the titular boy wizard in the upcoming television series, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

With more than 32,000 children having auditioned for Harry alone, the HBO special will chronicle the extensive casting process required to find the perfect children for the job. In addition, fans can expect to hear from key cast members such as our new John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, and Paapa Essiedu, who play Headmaster Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape respectively.

In addition, there will be interviews with the talented teams responsible for casting, production design, costume design, and creature effects.

With the new adaptation of J.K Rowling’s books due out this Christmas, Nick Frost - who plays Hagrid in the series - will narrate this one off episode.
