From shock confessions to funny one liners, here are 5 things that happened on The Celebrity Traitors last night.

The Celebrity Traitors is back and better than ever, with this year’s stars already causing chaos inside the castle.

In the first episode of series two, the Faithful and the Traitors have been determined. Richard E. Grant and Maya Jama will be lying and deceiving their fellow stars in the Traitors castle for the competition, which will see the winners take home £100,000 for charity.

Already, there has been plenty of drama from shock confessions to surprising comedic moments. Here are 5 things that happened on The Celebrity Traitors last night (Thursday, October 1).

Beware - massive spoilers ahead.

1. Richard E. Grant was named a Traitor - and immediately let EVERYONE know

Claudia Winkleman circled the round table dramatically, selecting presenter Maya Jama and actor Richard E. Grant as two of this year’s Traitors.

After the selection process, the celebrities filtered out of the room to discuss the process. Joe Lycett asks Grant if he is a Faithful or a Traitor. Entirely unable to hide his delight - especially after discussing his goal of becoming one so openly - Grant immediately admits that he is a Traitor.

Cue the shocked and disbelieving laughter.

The incredibly bold move left many stars suspicious, however, it also did the opposite. Some stars, such as Jerry Hall, are now convinced that there is no way Grant could be a Traitor since he admitted it so openly.

On the other hand, others including James Acaster and Amol Rajan are openly accusing Grant of being a Traitor.

In the words of his (unknowing, at this point) fellow Traitor Maya Jama, “no one can sus Richard E. Grant out”. Later, once she was introduced to Grant as a Traitor, Jama said: “I feel ike me and Richard are in it together.

“It’s like having an unhinged uncle running wild in the castle. That is my partner in crime.”

2. James Blunt is a comedian

Ahead of the first challenge of the series, each celebrity had to wrestle their way into some wetsuits. Sharing a car with Joe Lycett and Miranda Hart, he proved his comedic chops almost instantly.

He told the pair: “I’m concerned about the chafing, but I have greased my nipples.”

The two comedians have some questions, asking how he achieved this.

Blunt, rather sagely, tells them: “I ordered bread and butter this morning and I used the butter to grease my nipples.”

Whether or not he’s being serious is unclear, with Blunt not giving Hart and Lycett a direct answer and instead turning it back around on them.

“And you didn’t?” He asked.

3. Ross Kemp and James Blunt (plus his greased nipples) took charge of the challenge

James Blunt and Ross Kemp took charge in the first challenge of the show, aboard a sunken ship which contained £15,000 of prize money. The group had to work together to rescue crates with the gold from the water.

In the words of Amol Rajan: “Who were the two commanders with instructions at the front? James Blunt, former military man, and Ross Kemp, professional hard nut, which as it happens we were very happy to follow.”

In the end, the celebrities rescued all of the prize money from the ship which was rigged to explode either when the time was up - or 90 seconds after they secured the gold.

4. Ross Kemp’s paranoia is off the charts

At the end of the challenge, Bella Ramsey placed a sailor’s hat on Kemp’s head. The man started panicking that this meant he had been killed in plain sight.

Then back at the castle, someone brushes past Kemp and he once again assumes this innocent touch meant he had been murdered by the Traitors.

This level of paranoia will undoubtedly be annoying for some in the castle, but is shaping up to be comedy gold for those of us watching at home.

5. Two celebrities beg to become a Traitor

After Grant’s disastrous admission that he is a Traitor, he and Jama must select a third Traitor. To do so, they have been told to pick two stars and inevitably they select some of the most vocally suspicious: James Acaster and Amol Rajan.

The pair are summoned to the church where two coffins await them. The two Traitors then emerge and they have to beg for their lives.

Acaster, who admitted to Winkleman that he “100%” wanted to be a Faithful.

“I can’t really be anything but myself, and if I imagine, in my wildest dreams, getting to the end, I would much rather be standing there and be able to say I’m a Faithful.”

Nevertheless, he pleaded rather earnestly to remain in the competition. Meanwhile, Rajan was far more slick and convincing.

Who lives on as a Traitor and who is the first to be killed will be revealed in the next episode.

Episode two of The Celebrity Traitors is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 8pm on Friday, October 2.
