Landmark Edinburgh pub close to Hibs’ Easter Road stadium set for new chapter
“The pub has been acquired by experienced private operators, and I look forward to seeing it reopen under new ownership” – Simon Watson, Christie & Co
A well-known Edinburgh watering hole close to Hibs football ground has changed hands.
Middletons Bar, which is located on Easter Road, close to Easter Road Stadium, is to reopen under new ownership after being sold on behalf of Belhaven-owner Greene King for an undisclosed sum.
Property experts noted that the pub occupied a prominent position on Easter Road, benefitting from strong footfall, a “loyal local customer base” and proximity to both Edinburgh city centre and Leith. They said the area had continued to thrive in recent years, attracting a “diverse mix” of residents, visitors and hospitality businesses, making it “one of the capital’s most sought-after licensed trade locations”.

Simon Watson, senior business agent, hospitality, at property adviser Christie & Co, which acted on behalf of Greene King in the disposal and managed the sale process, said: “Middletons attracted strong interest from the market, highlighting the ongoing demand for well-located community pubs across Edinburgh. Following a successful off-market sales process, we secured a positive outcome for all parties.
“The pub has been acquired by experienced private operators, and I look forward to seeing it reopen under new ownership. I’d like to thank Greene King for their continued trust in Christie & Co,” he added.
Confirming the deal, Christie & Co noted: “Middletons is a traditional neighbourhood pub with a long-established reputation as a community-focused venue, particularly popular with residents and sports supporters, including those attending matches at the nearby Easter Road Stadium.”
