Scotland squad: Two stars return, Rangers man gets first call-up and surprises in midfield
Pocognoli names player who will face North Macedonia and Switzerland in Nations League
Scotland talisman Scott McTominay has returned to the squad ahead of the country’s Nations League matches against North Macedonia and Switzerland later this month.
Capped 73 times by Scotland with 15 goals, McTominay missed this season’s first international break due to a minor heart procedure, but the Napoli man returns having played his club’s past seven matches. He will work with Scotland head coach Sebastien Pocognoli for the first time.
Fellow Serie A player Che Adams is also back in the squad after a muscle strain ruled him out of the matches against Slovenia twice, North Macedonia and Switzerland in September and October. He is one of four No 9s selected by Pocognoli.

In-form Rangers defender James Penrice has won his first call-up, with Sassuolo’s Josh Doig the one to miss out. Dinamo Zagreb defender Scott McKenna has been ruled out with a back strain. Celtic right-back Colby Donovan has also been omitted.
In midfield, uncapped Blackburn Rovers No 6 Kristi Montgomery keeps his place after earning a call-up last time out. There are no places for veteran Kenny McLean, nor Udinese’s 20-year-old Lennon Miller. Both were picked last time by Pocognoli.
Scotland play North Macedonia at Hampden Park on Friday, November 13 before travelling to St Gallen to face Switzerland at Sitterstadion on Monday, November 16.
They sit third in Nations League B1 on four points and require at least a win and a draw from their remaining two games to stand a chance of toppling Slovenia and finishing second in the group.
